Please listen to three prose poems I wrote. The poems are only in Japanese.

『当てにしていい人の存在』

ka-ten kara sashikomu hikari de mezameta nichiyoubi
カーテンから差し込む光で目覚めた日曜日
mou shukoshi nemurasete
もう少し眠らせて
buranketto wo hikiyose te kao wo oou
ブランケットを引き寄せて顔をおおう
asahi wa nemuri wo samatageru jyama mono
朝日は眠りを妨げる邪魔モノ

demo kyou kara wa betsu
でも今日からは別

buranketto wo hikiyose te kao ga niyakeru
ブランケットを引き寄せて顔がにやける
asahi wa anata wo kagayakaseru tame no purezento
朝日はあなたを輝かせるためのプレゼント

hidarigawa de mada nemuru hito
左側でまだ眠る人
”ateni shite ii yo” to itta hito
「当てにしていいよ」と言った人
andokan to iu ai wo kureta hito
安堵感という愛をくれた人

shizen wa, uchuu wa, jikan wa, minna ni byoudou ni aru. demo ningen wa, jibun no tsugou de, ame ni hurarete wa komaru toka, jikan ga hayaku tatsu toka, yukkuri sugiru toka iu.
自然は、宇宙は、時間は、みんなに平等にある。でも人間は、自分の都合で、雨に降られては困るとか、時間が早くたつとか、ゆっくり過ぎるとか言う。
Nature, space and time are there for us all equally. However, people say this and that for our own conveniences, like, rain is no good, time flies or passes slowly.

akachan no koro kara, danna ga tottemo kawaigatte moratte ta, otto mo kodomo mo inai hitori gurashi no obasan taku e itta.
赤ちゃんの頃から、ダンナがとってもかわいがってもらってた、夫も子どももいない1人暮らしの叔母さん宅へ行った。
My husband and I visited an aunt who has cared and loved him since a baby. She doesn’t have a husband or a child and is living alone.
maji kikanjyuu no youni shaberu hito de, nana wari ijyou ga izen nido ijyou kiita hanashi ya byouki no hanashi ya hito no uwasabanashi. tsukareteta nomo tetsudatte, kanari kitsukatta kedo, itsumonoyouni nanjikan mo hitasura kiita.
マジ機関銃のようにしゃべる人で、7割以上が以前2度以上聞いた話や病気の話や人の噂話。疲れてたのも手伝って、かなりキツかったけど、いつものように何時間もひたすら聞いた。
Seriously, she talks like a machine gun and more than 70% of the talks were the stories we had heard more than twice before, or about her disease, or gossip. From the beginning I was tired so it was tough to hear them but I listened to her with all my heart as usual.
saigo ni ouchi no aikagi to, sono obasan ga nakunatta ato, jibun wo dou shori shitehoshiika ga kaitearu toiu tegami ga haitta huutou no basho wo oshie rareta.
最後にお家の合鍵と、その叔母さんが亡くなった後、自分をどう処理してほしいかが書いてあるという手紙が入った封筒の場所を教えられた。
At the end, she gave us a copy of the key to her house and told us where the letter was in which she wrote how she wants to be treated after her death.

ato de shimijimi omotta nowa, obasan ni totte watashi tachi wa ateni dekiru sonzai nanda to iu koto. watashi tachi wa ate ni sareteru. hitori no ningen ga ate ni shite kureta.
後でしみじみ思ったのは、叔母さんにとって私たちは当てにできる存在なんだということ。私たちは当てにされてる。一人の人間が当てにしてくれた。
After a while, I keenly thought that we are the people she can trust. We are relied on. A human being is counting on us.
watashi tachi ga, rouryoku to jikan wo teikyou suru koto ni naru darou. hyottoshitara kanari taihen kamo shirenai.
私たちが、労力と時間を提供することになるだろう。ひょっとしたらかなり大変かもしれない。
We are going to spend our energy and time. It might be very hard.
demo, obasan wa, omoi omoi kata no ni ga hitotsu oroseta to omoun da. shinu made, mada rokujyuu dai dashi saki no koto wa wakaranai kedo, ookina anshin wo erareta to omoun da.
でも、叔母さんは、重い重い肩の荷が一つ下ろせたと思うんだ。死ぬまで、まだ６０代だし先の事は分からないけど、大きな安心を得られたと思うんだ。
But I think our aunt took a heavy load off her shoulders. Until she dies, she is in her 60’s so we don’t know about the future, she feels greater piece of mind.
sou omou to namida ga ukabu. yokatta, tte omou.
そう思うと涙が浮かぶ。よかった、って思う。
When I think of it, tears are welling up. I feel happy.
soshite, ima no yononaka, ateni dekiru hito ga inai ningen ga ooi kamo shirenai to omou to, kanashii. yasashii tsuyoi hito ni naritai to omotta.
そして、今の世の中、当てにできる人がいない人間が多いかもしれないと思うと、悲しい。
やさしい強い人になりたいと思った。
At the same time, when I imagine that there may be a lot of people who don’t have someone they can rely on, I feel sad. I have to be stronger.

”iiyo” “iin dayo” no yasashisa.
「いいよ」「いいんだよ」のやさしさ。
konaida kara kanjiteru, nandatte ok nanda, no anshin siri-zu no ippen.
こないだから感じてる、何だってOKなんだ、の安心シリーズの1編。
“OK” “No problem.”, which sound tender.
I’ve been thinking those kinds of things, anything is OK, and this is one of those poems on sense of relief.

ちょっと気になるキーワード。「ゆだねる」
The key word on my mind is “to leave something”.

捨てたもんじゃないと言ってみた
watashi no koe wa ame no oto ni tokete iku
わたしの声は雨の音にとけていく

小道を歩きながら
kasa wo tatande mita
傘をたたんでみた
komichi no naka no amaoto wo kiki nagara
小道の中の雨音を聞きながら

jibun hitori no waku no naka kara, sukoshi soto e kimochi wo mukete mitara, takusan no omoi ga ahurete iru sekai ga aru yone.
自分一人の枠の中から、少し外へ気持ちを向けてみたら、沢山の想いが溢れている世界があるよね。
You will find the world with full of mixed feelings of others when you slightly pay attention to outside of yourself.
ironna koe ga kakikesare, ironna namida ga nagasarete iru sekai ga aru.
色んな声がかき消され、色んな涙が流されている世界がある。
Those neglected voices and shed tears are out there.
soredemo ningen wa yume wo idakeru doubutsu. sasayaka demo daitan demo, minna ga kibou wo motemasu youni, to negai wo komete...
それでも人間は夢を抱ける動物。ささやかでも大胆でも、みんなが希望を持てますように、と願いを込めて。。。
Still, people can have a dream. I wrote this poem hoping everyone has one, humble or big.

これなんや(だ)と思う？　全部人を表す大阪弁やで(だよ)。
What do you think they are? They are all words to describe people.

irankotoshii
『いらんことしい』
yokei na koto wo suru hito. aruiwa, osekkai na hito.
余計なことをする人。あるいは、おせっかいな人。
Those who do something unnecessary. Or, meddling people.
”honma mou, anta wa irankotoshii yana. yokei yaikoshii nen kara, yamete kurehen.”
「ホンマ(ホント)もう、あんた(あなた)はいらんことしいやな(だね)。余計やいこしなんねんから(ややこしくなるんだから)、やめてくれへん(ない)。」
“You’re such an irankotoshii, aren’t you? It will be more complicated when you do that. Can you stop it?”
honnin warugi wa nai kara, aijyou wo motte chuukoku shite agete ne.
本人悪気はないから、愛情を持って忠告してあげてね。
They themselves mean no harm, so advise them with love.

kinishii
『気にしい』
kinishinaku temo yosasou na, chiisana koto wo shinpai suru hito. hito ga itta koto wo kini shisugiru hito.
気にしなくてもよさそうな、小さなことを心配する人。人が言ったことを気にしすぎる人。
Those who worry about unimportant things. Those who care too much about what others say.
”anoko kinishii yatte, jibun de iutotta kedo, soukana.”
「あの子気にしいやって(だって)、自分で言うとった(言ってた)けど、そうかな。」
“She said that she is a kinishii herself but I’m wondering.”
yoku nita noni, kiwo tsukai sugiru hito, to iu imi no『kiitsukaii』to iu nomo arimasu. gyakuni jibun no iitai koto wo enryo naku iu hito wa『iitaikotoii』desu.
よく似たのに、気を使いすぎる人、という意味の『気い使いい』というのもあります。逆に自分の言いたいことを遠慮なく言う人は『言いたいこと言い』です。
There is a similar word, “kiitsukaii”, which means those who care about relationships too much. On the contrary, those who tell straight are called, “iitaikotoii”.

ureshigari
『うれしがり』
sono dekigoto ya jyoukyou ya shinamono wo yorokonde, choushi ni notte hanashi wo shitari, koudou wo okoshi tari, nanika wo misebirakasu youni suru hito.
その出来事や状況や品物を喜んで、調子にのって話をしたり、行動を起こしたり、何かを見せびらかすようにする人。
Happy about an event, their current state, or some item, ureshigari are people that ride the feeling and show it when they tell stories, or the actions they take.
”hajimete hurisode kita toki, ureshigari mitai ni, ichinchijyuu soto hottsuki aruita wa.”
「初めて振袖着たとき、うれしがりみたいに、いちんち(一日)中外ほっつき歩いたわ。」
“When I wore hurisode, or long-sleeved kimono, for the first time, I wondered around all day like an ureshigari.”

eekakkoshii
『ええかっこしい』
mie wo haru hito. mieppari. iikoburikko. doushi wa, 『eekakkosuru』
見栄を張る人。見栄っ張り。いい子ぶりっ子。動詞は、『ええかっこする』。
Those who show off something, put on airs, try to impress people, or pretend to be a good person. The verb is eekakkosuru.
”sensei no mae ya omote, eekakko suna.”
「先生の前やおもて(だと思って)、ええかっこすな(するな)。」
“Don’t just pretend to be nice in front of teachers.”

hetare
『へたれ』
ikujinashi. kowagari. oosakaben de,「konjyonashi」tomo iu wa.
意気地なし。怖がり。大阪弁で、「こんじょなし」とも言うわ。
A wimp. A chicken. We say “konjyonashi” in Osaka dialect as well.
”ore tte sugge~ shinu hodo jettoko-suta- kowai nen. nande sonna ni kowai nka wakara hen. tonikaku, kanojyo ni hetare yatte omoware taku nai nen kedo, doushitara ee?”
「オレってすっげ〜死ぬほどジェットコースター怖いねん(んだ)。何で(なぜ)そんなに怖いんか(のか)わからへん(わからない)。とにかく、彼女にへたれやって(だって)思われたくないねん(んだ)けど、どうしたらええ(いい)？」
I'm pretty much deathly afraid of roller coasters. I'm not really sure why. Anyway, I don't want to look like a wimp, so what should I do?

gonta
『ごんた』
やんちゃ。(音声は日本語の意味が抜けています。)
A naughty child.
”uchi no ko, honma gonta de komaru wa. dare ni nitan yaro? otousan mo watashi mo otonashii noni. honma yade.”
「うちの子、ホンマ(ホント)ごんたで困るわ。誰に似たんやろ(のかしら/だろ)？　お父さんも私もおとなしいのに。ホンマやで(ホント(だ)よ)。」
“Our child, he is really naughty. It’s so annoying. Whom does he resemble, I wonder? Both his dad and I are quiet. That’s true.”

zubora
『ずぼら/づぼら』
namakemono. ouchakumono.
怠けもの。横着もの。
A lazy person. A shirker.
”iyaa, ohisashiburi desu. nagai aida odenwa mo sento, sunmasen na. nanse zubora na monde.”
「いやぁ、お久しぶりです。長い間お電話もせんと(しないで)、すんませんな(すみませんね)。なんせ(とにかく)ずぼらなもんで(もので)。」
“Well, it’s been a long time. I haven’t even called you for a while. Sorry about that. Since I am a lazy person.”
hahaha, nanka ojisan chikku na serihu.
ははは、なんかおじさんチックな台詞。
Haha, this sounds like a middle aged men’s way of saying.

ichibiri
『いちびり』
ochoushimono. huzake te, shoumonai koto wo suru hito. sakki no「ureshigari」no imi mo hukun de masu. doushi wa『ichibiru』.
お調子者。ふざけて、しょうもない(意味のない)ことをする人。さっきの「うれしがり」の意味も含んでます。動詞は『いちびる』。
Someone that gets amused easily and does funny things for no reason It also means above-mentioned “ureshigari” in some situations. The verb is “ichibiru”.
”chotto, ichibitte nto, hayo yarou yaa.”
「ちょっと、いちびってんと、はよ(早く)やろうやぁ(よぉ)。」
“Hey, don’t ichibiru and get going already.”

henko
『へんこ』
gankomono. hesomagari. soyakedo, kono「hesomagari」tte iikata mo, omoshiroi na. jibun no oheso ga magatte nai ka mite mii.
頑固者。へそ曲がり。そやけど(だけど)、この「へそ曲がり」って言い方も、おもしろいな(ね)。自分(あなた)のおへそが曲がってないか見てみぃ(ごらん)。
An eccentric person or a bigot. A twisted person. Anyway, this “hesomagari” is also funny way of saying, isn’t it? Look at your belly button if it is bended.
”ano yakitoriyasan no tebasaki, mechcha oishii kedo, taishou ga henko rashii wa.”
「あの焼き鳥屋さんの手羽先、めっちゃおいしいけど、大将がへんこらしいわ。」
“The chicken wing at that grilled chicken shop is really good but the owner is a bigot, I heard.”

iye-i! sikasi, rokuna n nai naa.
イェ〜イ！　しかし、ろくなん(の)ないなぁ(ねぇ)。
Yay! As you can see, there are no good words.

tokorode, konaida wakai ko ni, “biyouin no koto, pa-mayasan, tte mou ie hen no?” tte kiita ra, “okaasan ga iu~!” tte bakushou sareta wa.
ところで、こないだ(このあいだ)若い子に、「美容院のこと、パーマ屋さん、ってもう言えへんの(言わないの)？」って聞いたら、「お母さんが言う〜！」って爆笑されたわ。
tokidoki “pa-mayasan” tte iu te mau nen naa.
時々「パーマ屋さん」って言うてまうねん(言ってしまうんだ)なぁ。
By the way, the other day I asked younger people, “Don’t you say pa-mayasan as biyouin anymore?”, then they burst into laughter, saying, “My mother says the word.” I occasionally use pa-mayasan.

oomukashi, kansaiben de aisuko-hi- no koto, reiko- tte iu totta kedo, sorewa sasugani mou tsukae hen de.
大昔、関西弁でアイスコーヒーのこと、冷コーって言うとった(言ってた)けど、それはさすがにもう使えへんで(使わないよ)。
soyakedo, uchi no okaasan wa ima demo “reiko-” tte iu kara, kissaten no wakai oniichan ya oneechan, wakare hen shi, watashi ga “aisuko-hi- onegai shimasu.” tte tsuuyaku sun nen.
そやけど(だけど)、うちのお母さんは今でも「冷コー」って言うから、喫茶店の若いお兄ちゃんやお姉ちゃん、分かれへんし(分からないし)、私が「アイスコーヒーお願いします。」って通訳すんねん(するの)。
Long time ago, we, kansai-jin, used to call iced coffe reiko. I don’t say it anyway. My mother still uses the word, “reiko”, and young boys and girls in coffee houses don’t get what that means so I interpret it into like this, “aisu kohi, please.”

mada mada, oosakaben hirome na akan de~
まだまだ、大阪弁広めなあかんで〜(広めないといけないよ〜)
You have to keep familialize osaka dialect to the publish.

みなさん、お元気？
sate, kotoshi wa nedoshi yanen.
さて、今年は子年やねん(なんだ)。
honde, nezumi de omoidasu noga, kyou ohanashi suru “nezumi no yomeiri” tteiu mukashibanashi.
ほんで(それで)、ねずみで思い出すのが、今日お話しする「ねずみの嫁入り」っていう昔話。
kodomono koro, ehon no e mo kawaikatta shi kono ohanashi ga nandeka dai no okiniiri yatten.
子供の頃、絵本の絵もかわいかったしこのお話がなんでか(なぜか)大のお気に入りやってん(だったんだ)。
osakaben chau nen kedo, douzo.
大阪弁ちゃうねん(ちがうんだ)けど、どうぞ。
It’s been a while since the year of 2008 started. How are you doing, everybody? Well, the Chinese zodiac symbol for this year is the Rat. And rats and mice remind me of this folk tale I’ll tell you today. The title is “Mouse’s Marriage”. As a little child, I loved the pretty illustrations in the book and the story was my favorite one. It’s not in Osaka dialect but enjoy.



mukashi, mukashi, aru ie no okura no naka ni, okome wo motte, mugi wo motte, awa wo motte, mame wo motte, taisou yutaka ni kurashiteiru okanemochi no nezumi ga sunde orimashita.
むかし、むかし、ある家のお倉の中に、お米を持って、麦を持って、粟を持って、豆を持って、たいそうゆたかに暮らしているお金持ちのねずみが住んでおりました。
Once upon a time there lived some rich mice in the storage of a house that had plenty of rice, wheat, millet and beans.
kodomo ga nai node kamisama ni onegai shimasu to, yatto onnanoko ga umare mashita.
子供がないので神さまにお願いしますと、やっと女の子が生まれました。
They had no children, so they made a wish to a god and had a baby girl at last.
sonoko wa zunzun ookiku natte, kagayaku hodo utsukushiku natte, sorewa nezumi no okuni de darehitori kuraberu mono no nai nihonichi no ii musume ni narimashita.
その子はずんずん大きくなって、かがやくほど美しくなって、それはねずみのお国でだれ一人くらべるもののない日本一のいい娘になりました。
The baby girl grew up to be by far the most beautiful lady in the Japanese mouse kingdom.
kounaruto, mou nezumi no nakama niwa miwatashita tokoro, totemo musume no omukosan ni suru youna mono wa arimasen deshita.
こうなると、もうねずみの仲間には見わたしたところ、とても娘のお婿さんにするような者はありませんでした。
She was such a beautiful girl that there was no match amongst her mouse friends who could be her husband.
nezumi no otousan to okaasan wa,
ねずみのおとうさんとおかあさんは、
”uchi no musume wa nihonichi no musume nanodakara, nandemo nihon ichi no omukosan wo morawanakereba naranai.”
「うちの娘は日本一の娘なのだから、何でも日本一のお婿さんをもらわなければならない。」
to iimashita.
と言いました。
“Our daughter is the greatest girl in Japan, so she should marry the greatest boy in Japan.” Father and Mother said.
sokode konoyononaka de dare ga ichiban erai ka toiuto, sorewa takai takai sora no ue kara sekaijyuu wo akaruku terashite oideninaru ohisama no hoka niwa arimasen deshita.
そこでこの世の中でだれがいちばんえらいかというと、それは高い高い空の上から世界中をあかるく照らしておいでになるお日さまの外にはありませんでした。
Then who is the greatest in the world? It must be the Sun who lights up the world from high, high above the sky.
sokode otousan wa okaasan to musume wo tsurete, ten e nobotte ikimashita.
そこでおとうさんはおかあさんと娘を連れて、天へ上っていきました。
So Father went up to the sky with his wife and daughter.
soshite ohisama ni,
そしてお日さまに、
”ohisama, ihisama, anata wa yononaka de ichiban erai okata desu. douzo watakushi no musume wo oyome ni moratte kudasai mashi.”
「お日さま、お日さま、あなたは世の中でいちばんえらいお方です。どうぞわたくしの娘をお嫁にもらって下さいまし。」
to itte, teinei ni ojigi wo shimashita.
といって、ていねいにおじぎをしました。
“Mr. Sun, Mr. Sun, you are the greatest in the world. Could you please marry our daughter?” Father asked and bowed deeply.
suruto ohisama wa nikoniko nasarinagara,
するとお日さまはにこにこなさりながら、
”sorewa arigatai ga, yononaka niwa watashi yorimo motto erai mono ga aru yo.”
「それはありがたいが、世の中にはわたしよりももっとえらいものがあるよ。」
to oshshai mashita.
とおっしゃいました。
Mr. Sun answered, smiling, “That’s kind of you to say so but there’s a greater thing in this world.”
otousan wa bikkuri shimashita.
おとうさんはびっくりしました。
Father was surprised.
”maa, anata yori mo erai kata ga aru no desu ka. sore wa donata de gozaimasu ka.”
「まあ、あなたよりもえらい方があるのですか。それはどなたでございますか。」
“Oh, there’s a greater person than you. Who is that?”

おとうさんはそこで、こんどは雲の所へ出かけました。
And so, this time Father visited the Cloud.

「雲さん、雲さん、あなたは世の中でいちばんえらいお方です。どうぞわたくしの娘をお嫁にもらって下さいまし。」
“Mr. Cloud, Mr. Cloud, you are the greatest thing in the world. Could you please marry our daughter?”
”sore wa arigatai ga, yononaka niwa watashi yori motto erai mono ga aru yo.”
「それはありがたいが、世の中にはわたしよりもっとえらいものがあるよ。」
“That’s kind of you to say so, but there’s a greater thing in this world.”
otousan wa bikkuri shimashita.
おとうさんはびっくりしました。
Father was surprised.
”maa, anata yori mo erai kata ga aruno desuka. sore wa donata de gozaimasuka.”
「まあ、あなたよりもえらい方があるのですか。それはどなたでございますか。」
“Oh, there’s a greater person than you? Who is that?”
”sore wa kaze sa. kaze ni hukitobasare tewa watashi mo kanawanai yo.”
「それは風さ。風に吹きとばされてはわたしもかなわないよ。」
“That’s the Wind. The wind blows and clears me out, then I don’t have a chance against him.”
”naruhodo.”
「なるほど。」
“Yes, indeed.”

「それは、壁さ。壁ばかりはわたしの力でもとても、吹きとばすことはできないからね。」
“That’s the Wall. I couldn’t blow off the Wall even with my power.”

“Yes, indeed.”

おとうさんはそこでまた、のこのこ壁の所へ出かけていきました。
And so again, this time Father breezily visited the Wall.

「それはだれでもない、そういうねずみさんさ。わたしがいくらまっ四角な顔をして、固くなって、がんばっていても、ねずみさんはへいきでわたしの体を食い破って、穴をあけて通り抜けていくじゃないか。だからわたしはどうしてもねずみさんにはかなわないよ。」
“That’s nobody but you, mice. Even though I’m towering up with my hard square face, mice bite me off and make a hole in me with no hassle to go through. That’s why I’m no comparison with you mice.”
”naruhodo.” to nezumi no otousan wa, kondokoso hontouni shin kara kanshin shita youni, pon to te wo utte,
「なるほど。」とねずみのおとうさんは、こんどこそほんとうにしんから感心したように、ぽんと手を打って、
”kore wa imamade kigatsukanakatta. jyaa watashi domo ga yononaka de ichiban erai no desu ne. arigatai. arigatai.”
「これは今まで気がつかなかった。じゃあわたしどもが世の中でいちばんえらいのですね。ありがたい。ありがたい。」
to nikoniko shinagara, ibatte kaette ikimashita.
とにこにこしながら、いばって帰っていきました。
“That is indeed true.”, said Father, impressingly giving a clap once. “I’ve never noticed that. So we are the greatest things in this world, are’t we? How fabulous! How fabulous!”, Father said, smiling and proudly went home.
soshite kaeru to sassoku, otonari no chuusuke nezumi wo musume no omukosan ni shimashita.
そして帰るとさっそく、お隣のちゅう助ねずみを娘のお婿さんにしました。
wakai omukosan to oyomesan wa, nakayoku kurashi te, otousan to okaasan wo daiji ni shimashita.
若いお婿さんとお嫁さんは、仲よく暮らして、おとうさんとおかあさんをだいじにしました。
soshite takusan kodomo wo unde, okura no nezumi no ikka wa masumasu sakae mashita.
そしてたくさん子供を生んで、お倉のねずみの一家はますます栄えました。
Soon after they returned home, the daughter got married to the next door mouse, Mr. Chusuke. Young bride and groom had a happy mariried life and hold Father and Mother in high esteem. And they had a lot of children and the mouse family in the storage got increasingly prosperous.




na-nnya, sore. toudaimotokurashi, yatta na.
な〜んや(な〜んだ)、それ。灯台下暗し、やったな(だったね)。
soyakedo, okura no nezumi ikka wa sakae te, medetashimedetashi yatta kedo, sono okura no mochinushi wa dounattan yaro?
そやけど（だけど）、お倉のねずみ一家は栄えて、めでたしめでたしやった(だった)けど、そのお倉の持ち主はどうなったんやろ(だろ)？
What’s the heck of that? The darkest place is under the candlestick, right? Anyway, the mouse family in the storage got flourished and had a happy ending, but what about the owner of the storage?
nihongo dewa, nezumi wa chu-chu- naku nen.
日本語では、ねずみはチューチュー鳴くねん(んだ)。
soyakara, omukosan no namae wa chuusukesan ni natten nen.
そやから(だから)、お婿さんの名前はちゅう助さんになってんねん(るんだ)。
eigo dewa eep tte naku nenna.
英語ではeepって鳴くねんなぁ(んだね)。
In Japanese a mouse says chu chu. So the bridegroom’s name was Chusuke. In English a mouse says eep, doesn’t it?

honnara saigo ni, nezumi ga tsuita kotoba wo nanko ka shoukai suru wana.
ほんなら(じゃあ)最後に、ねずみが付いた言葉を何個か紹介するわな(ね)。
Now, finally I’ll introduce some words with nezumi.
”hukuro no nezumi”
「袋の鼠」
You're like a rat in a trap. So there's no way out.
”nezumi iro”
「ねずみ色」
Gray. It’s the same as haiiro.
”nezumi hanabi”
「ねずみ花火」
A kind of fireworks. Pinwheel fireworks.
”nezumi otoko”
「ねずみ男」

One of a caracters in ゲゲゲの鬼太郎, a manga series.
Wikipedia says, “Nezumi Otoko is a rodent-like yōkai-human halfbreed. He has been alive for three hundred years, and in that time has almost never taken a bath, rendering him filthy, foul-smelling, and covered in welts and sores. While he is usually Kitaro's friend, Nezumi Otoko will waste no time cooking up vile schemes or betraying his companions if he thinks there's money to be had or a powerful enemy to side with. He claims to be a college graduate of the University of the Bizarre (怪奇大学 Kaiki Daigaku?).”
